July 2010 E-mailing
Hi again! Here's our July news plus great fresh tour images at left — see our cheat sheet or go directly to our July recent photos (Borneo, Venezuela, Ireland, Montana). Also, see a new Alaska slideshow below!
Antarctica 2011 fee drops 15%
Great news: The ship's operator for our January 5-26, 2011, cruise with George Armistead has been able to reduce the fee by 15% due to recent currency shifts, so a twin standard cabin is now $13,290 per person, and a superior cabin is $15,450. Read more about this trip of a lifetime on our Antarctica tour page or download the itinerary.

Antarctica: King Penguins

Where the heck is Suriname?
SurinameA common refrain, no doubt! Guide Bret Whitney gives a great new description of this South America trip on our Suriname tour page. Our next departure (with Bret and Dan Lane) is March 4-19, 2011. Oh, and there should be Red-fan Parrots, Guianan Cocks-of-the-rock, Blood-colored Woodpeckers, and a lot more...plus Suriname's a great destination for mammals, in particular monkeys.

Resplendent QuetzalCountry overviews: Panama & Ecuador
Which might be the best tour choice for your visit? Have you been hoping for a quick side-by-side info session? We have just the answer on our overview pages for five of the richest birding lands of all — have a look at two examples this month: our Panama overview page compares and contrasts our 4 distinct itineraries from east to west; our Ecuador overview page takes an informative scan through our eight routes across this small yet incredibly bird-rich country. We still have space open on several tours between now and next spring.

Brazil in your plans? A few spaces remain.
We have space open on just 5 of our 12 Brazil trips from September through February: Cristalino Lodge, Oct 4-15 with John Rowlett (1 space), Itatiaia/Iguazu/Pantanal, Oct 16-31 with John Rowlett & Rose Ann Rowlett, Backcountry Brazil, Dec 8-17 with Bret Whitney & Marcelo Padua (1 space), Northeast Brazil, Jan 16-Feb 5 with Bret Whitney & Marcelo Padua, Brazil Nutshell, Feb 18-Mar 4 with Marcelo Padua & Jay VanderGaast. Visit the links for more info and itineraries, or contact Tour Manager Teresa Paschall in our office.

New Alaska 2010 slideshow
Guide George Armistead returned from our second Alaska tour (co-led with Dave Stejskal) with great new images he put together in an online Alaska 2010 slideshow. For a view of the Pribilof Islands, Nome, Seward, and Barrow, visit the link and enjoy! (From the page, use the “Slideshow” button at upper right to see it full-screen; then you control slideshow speed by choosing Slow, Med, or Fast at upper left.)

What is the "right" birding underwear??
This might be a new concept, but we think you'll get a chuckle out of it. See the piece from our July newsletter by "Staff Anonymous" on how to be correctly underdressed in this PDF file. And of course, don't miss all the rest of the July newsletter fun...you can find all 12 pages (PDF) here.
