February 2013 E-mailing
Hello, all! Can it really be February with a dozen 2013 tours already departed? We must have blinked. This month there's a fun, new nightbirds slideshow below, tour news, upcoming spaces, and new images in our February recent photos gallery (Uganda, Brazil, Ecuador, Trinidad, Costa Rica, Pico Bonito, Yellowstone) -- on that page, click the slideshow button. Samples at left -- cheat sheet below!

_Uganda in May: not what you're expecting?
The bizarre Shoebill, a host of regional endemics, and a trek for Gorillas get all the glory as the title for our Uganda: Shoebill, Rift Endemics & Gorillas tour reveals. But the tour is much more -- with 500+ birds and 35+ mammals regularly recorded. Do you have rougher preconceptions of a tour to the heart of Africa? If so, below are a few pics of some of our lodges: Gorilla Forest Camp, the Primate Lodge at Kibale, and Paraa Lodge at Murchison. Click the images for a larger composite, and see our 2012 triplist here. There's still space in May with Terry and Jesse...

_Owls & Other Nightbirds Slideshow
Oriental Bay OwlDo you remember our Hummingbirds and Woodpeckers of the World slideshows we put together a while back? Well, we've been at it again, this time focusing on birds with a nocturnal tendency. Check out our new Owls & Other Nightbirds gallery -- just click on the "Slideshow" button to get started, and pause or navigate with the buttons at any time. Have fun!(And if you want to know how owls can turn their heads so far without getting hurt, check out this article hot off the press from Johns Hopkins Medicine...cool!)

_Rare and Spectacular for fall 2013
Bret Whitney, Marcelo Padua, and Chris
BeneshWhat's as rare as a Canebrake Groundcreeper or a Red-spectacled Parrot? Well, for one, still-open spaces on our November Spectacular Southeast Brazil tour. And even rarer? Seeing Bret Whitney and fellow Field Guide Chris Benesh on tour together! Yes, that's right, the "Kite" and "Solitaire" will be joining forces on Part I (North of the Tropic), while the "Manakin" Marcelo Padua comes on to work his magic with Bret on Part II (South of the Capricorn). It's hard to say enough about this tour in this space, so we thought we'd just show a few of the visual attractions below.
