A lovely clear day on Chele La (La = Pass) means great views of the Himalayan peaks. The problem is that cloudy days are the norm, clear days the exception—we usually have only three or four a trip. The trip with no clear days was great birding, the trip on which about half our days were clear was often tough birding—we want clear weather on the high passes, but can use some clouds and even mist in the lower forests. Oh yes, we will probably have a few big rains, too!
