Jan Pierson is one of the founders of Field Guides and a veteran of 30 years of international birding. He has traveled far and wide to all continents, yet some of his favorite birding experiences remain simple ones: spring warbler migration, savoring good long looks at birds, be they rare or common, tropical or temperate, and watching participants thrill at their first-time discoveries. His Field Guides duties include both advertised and private tours and numerous behind-the-scenes tasks, from executive duties and oversight of promotional materials to web site management and database programming; he also serves as a director of the company. Jan and his wife, Liz, co-authored A Birder's Guide to Maine (Down East Books, 1996).
